Diet For Chronic Diarrhea
Diarrhea is basically defined as loose and watery stools. The main indication of the diarrhea in daily life can be identified if passing loose stools is observed several times within a day. There are two types of the diarrhea, namely acute and chronic. Acute diarrhea will not last more than 1-2 days and will have negligible effects to the person's overall health condition. However, if the diarrhea symptoms are observed more than 2-days, then immediate medical assistance is required. In case if the diarrhea lasts more than 4 weeks it is considered as a chronic diarrhea. The symptoms of the chronic diarrhea might be continues or it might come and go after some time.
Causes of the chronic diarrhea might be the same as the causes of the acute diarrhea but it will also include: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (known as the Crohn's disease), endocrine disorders (hyperthyroidism – overactive thyroid), and chronic infections.

The best way to cure this disease would be following the Chronic Diearrhea Diet. This method of healing is very effective and easy to carry out. Things need to be remembered in chronic diarrhea diet:
- Give a patient plenty of clear fluid, such as water, Ceralyte, Pedialyte, or Infalyte (applicable for both adults and children). The concentration of the fruit juices and sport drinks must be lowered down to 50% by adding water.
- Milk and milk-based products, acidic fruit juices, caffeine and alcohol must be strictly avoided for at least 3 to 5 days as these roducts have potential to make the diarrhea even worse.
- Make sure that the sick person drinks enough fluids to replace the amount of the fluid lost through the diarrhea. If the patient is unable to keep up with his fluid loss, then seek for medical assistance.

In more serious situations, usage of the certain medicines needs to be considered as well. These medicines include IMODIUM and Loperamide that are very effective in stopping the diarrhea in adults.
